SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University head volleyball coach Sarah Smith announced today that four student-athletes have signed letters-of-intent to play volleyball for the Rams in 2010.

Walker, a 6-0 outside hitter, lettered four year in volleyball and one in tennis at Fluvanna County. A four-time All-District and three-time All-Region choice, Walker was named 2009 Jefferson District Player of the Year.  She was a two-time All-State selection.

“Kayla is a player who will win the love of her teammates immediately,” said Smith. “She is always positive on the court, smile on her face, and will jump into any role the coaches need of her.  Like her fellow freshmen, Kayla can play middle or outside. She plays outside currently on her club team but has also played middle. She is the best of the freshmen in terms of back row ball control due to playing experience on the outside.  Her natural soft platform will be a key in solidifying our serve receive.”
